Our Legacy

Located on the Detroit River between Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie, the Riverside Marina is southeast Michigan’s premier marine facility. Riverside Marina, originally Harbor Hill Marina, was the vision of Coleman A. Young and Portfield Wilson. Wilson and Young realized there were very few Marinas for African Americans with amenities such as the ones they were building at Riverside.

Portfield Wilson envisioned a marina village with residential neighborhoods, world-class facilities, and culturally specific high-society events. This dream was started in the late 80s and continues. Though Portfield Wilson’s dream is unfinished, the Riverside management team has a strategic roadmap to continue expanding the features and amenities of our current state-of-the-art facility. If you haven’t done so already; contact one of our friendly staff members to tour our unique establishment.
